Programs
At BHC Alhambra Hospital’s Reasons Eating Disorder Center, various levels of treatment are offered for both males and females ages 12 and older. Each program, designed to treat the complexities of Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating, and related eating disorders, is offered in an individualized and intensive format to identify and treat the underlying causes maintaining the eating disorder along with co-existing concerns such as, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, compulsive disorders, and chemical dependency. A multidisciplinary team of specialized professionals is available to assist each client in their own unique process of recovery. This includes a psychiatrist, psychologist, therapist, dietitian, nurses and support staff. We also offer comprehensive case management, discharge and aftercare planning. Effectiveness of treatment is promoted through team communication and the strong involvement of the medical doctor directing client care and evaluating results.
Levels of Care
Inpatient Programs: The inpatient programs are 24 hour, 7 day a week structured and intensive treatment programs. This includes both rapid stabilization and longer term intensive therapeutic interventions to address eating disordered behaviors and co-occurring disorders. Clients in these programs will receive treatment from a multi-disciplinary team with a focus on the individual's unique psychiatric, emotional and nutritional goals.
Our medical staff and professional nurses monitor vital signs, laboratory test results, effects from malnourishment and eating disordered behaviors. Our clinical team works with the client and family to develop a treatment plan that addresses the unique needs of the individual.
Clients can wear their own clothes and bring items that will make their room feel more like home, such as comforters, pillows or pictures of family and friends. There is no minimum length of stay required; however patients stay from two weeks to several months, depending on their individualized treatment plan.
Partial Hospitalization Program: This treatment program is a structured, 8 hour 6 day a week treatment program from 11 am to 7 pm, Monday through Saturday. It is designed to ensure continued success in recovery from the eating disorder with a focus on the individual's emotional and nutritional goals while attending therapeutic and educational groups. This program can be a transition from inpatient to outpatient treatment or clients can enter directly into this program from the outpatient setting while still living at home or in a local hotel near the hospital.
Intensive Outpatient Program: This treatment program is a structured, 4 hour 6 day a week program, a transition from the partial hospitalization program or for those clients that need more than outpatient therapy. Clients can live at home and be enrolled in school or work while attending this program. We offer two options for this level of care: 11 am to 3 pm or 3 pm to 7 pm depending on the individuals schedule and treatment needs.
